Disturbance

At 10:45pm on Sunday, Police on mobile patrol in the City of Hamilton were alerted to a potential disturbance on Reid Street near the junction with Washington Lane. Officers attended the area but there was no disturbance to be found. Officers at Police headquarters then observed a group of men on CCTV attacking a lone man on Reid Street near the junction with Burnaby Street, with one of the assailants armed with a bladed article. On Police arrival at that location the suspects attempted to escape in a car but the vehicle was surrounded and the four men inside (a 21 year old Southampton man, a 23 year old Warwick man and two 20 year old men from Southampton) were arrested, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained. A bladed article was subsequently recovered nearby. The victim, a 26 year old Pembroke man, was taken to KEMH for treatment of lacerations to his face, right arm and body. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. However, the Pembroke man refused to make a formal complaint regarding the incident. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Burglary

Around 8:40pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Ewing Street, Pembroke residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 3am and 6:45pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home. The culprit stole a quantity of cash and an I-Pod. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 7pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a burglary at a First Avenue, Warwick residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 4pm on Saturday, March 3 and 7:30pm on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 an unknown culprit gained entry into her home. The culprit stole a quantity of cash, jewelry and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 11:30am on Sunday, Police received a report of a burglary at an Orchard Grove, Pembroke residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 1am and 9:30am that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home. The culprit stole a quantity of cash and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 5 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 7 reported burglaries (2 in Pembroke, 1 in Paget, 1 in Warwick, 2 in Southampton and 1 in Sandy's parish). There were also 18 reported damage only road traffic collisions and 7 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
