Impaired Driving

At 2 this morning Police were on duty in the area of the Esso City Service Center in Pembroke. While there, a Police officer observed a male driver having difficulty maneuvering his car out of a parking space on the premises. The officer attempted to stop the driver to find out if he was OK, but the man drove off. With the assistance of another Police vehicle the car was made to stop on Woodlands Road and the driver, a 27 year old St. George’s man, was spoken to. The St. George’s man appeared to be intoxicated and was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. He was then taken to Hamilton Police Station where he was detained after failing the alco-analyser test.

Injury RTC/Impaired Driving

At 10pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on York Street in St. George’s near the junction with Clarence Street involving a car and a van. It appears that the car was traveling east on York Street and the van was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The driver of the van, a 27 year old St. George’s man, sustained a laceration to the right side of his face. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of his injury and subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The driver of the car, a 51 year old St. George’s man, was not injured. Both vehicles received moderate front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
