Impaired Driving (Care & Control)

Around 1:30 this morning, Police were on mobile patrol in the area of Dismont Drive in Pembroke when they came across a male and female trying to get on a cycle. The couple appeared to be very unsteady on their feet and the female, who was the pillion passenger, actually had her helmet fastened backwards. Officers asked the rider of the cycle for his name and it was at that point he gave a false name. While the rider was communicating with Police, they noticed that he smelled of intoxicants, his eyes were glazed and he was very unsteady on his feet. The rider was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station where his real identity was ascertained. He then refused to give a breath sample and was subsequently detained.
