At 5:40pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported damage only road traffic collision at the junction of North Shore Road and Harlem Heights Road in Hamilton parish involving a car and a taxi. It appears that the taxi was traveling west on North Shore Road and the car was traveling north on Harlem Heights Road when the vehicles collided at the junction. The car then caught fire. The fire was extinguished by Fire Service personnel from Southside. The driver of the taxi, a 54 year old Hamilton parish man, was not injured. The driver of the car, a 26 year old Hamilton parish woman, was also not injured; however, she was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained after failing the alco-analyser test.

Advisory

In light of the current weather conditions, the Marine Police would like to advise all boat owners to check their vessels and make sure that they are properly secured to their moorings. Also, all boats should have their registration number and Marine & Ports decal displayed. This will assist the Marine Police in identifying the rightful owner of a boat if it does manage to break free and is subsequently recovered by Marine Police.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 9 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving (2 women and 7 men; 6 individuals failed the alco-analyser test, 2 refused to take it and 1 passed) and 3 reported burglaries. There were also 27 reported damage only road traffic collisions and 8 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury.
