High Speed Chase

Around 2:35 this morning, a Police unit was stationary at the Port Royal Fire Station on Middle Road in Southampton when the officers observed two motorcycles traveling east at a high rate of speed. Police pursued the motorcycles and noticed that at times they were traveling on the wrong side of the road. The officers activated the Police cars emergency equipment; however the motorcycles continued east to the junction with Whale Bay Road. One of the motorcycles then managed to elude Police; however, the other cycle traveled on to Whale Bay Road and into a parking lot, followed by the officers. At this time the rider, a 21 year old Southampton man, dropped the motorcycle and attempted to flee on foot, but was caught. The Southampton man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained after failing the alco-analyser test. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

She is currently in stable condition on a general ward. The 21 year old Hamilton parish woman was treated for soreness to her face and released.
