Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 48 year old U.S. national David Longenette. It appears that Mr. Longenette, a visitor to the island, was at John Smiths Bay with family around 2:25pm yesterday when he collapsed on the beach after going for a swim. He was rushed to KEMH via ambulance and subsequently pronounced dead at 3:08pm on Wednesday by an on call physician. There are no suspicious circumstances. The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.

Media Note: Initial information received by Police indicated Mr. Longenette was 53 years old; however his correct age has been established as 48 years old.

Burglary

Around 9:10pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Sound View Road, Sandys parish residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 2:30pm and 8:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home. The culprit stole a PlayStation video game system, 9 PlayStation games and two PlayStation controllers. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 5:25pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Southampton guest property. The complainants, who are visitors to the island, stated that sometime between 11pm on Tuesday and 1:30am on Wednesday, an unknown culprit gained entry into their room. The culprit stole a quantity of cash and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Injury RTC

At 2:50pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Serpentine Road and Woodlands Road in Pembroke, involving a motorcycle and an auxiliary cycle. It appears that the auxiliary cycle and the motorcycle were traveling south on Woodlands Road . At the junction with Serpentine Road the rider of the motorcycle, a 41 year old Smiths parish man, attempted to make a right turn and the cycles collided. The Smiths parish man sustained minor abrasions to his right arm and was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment; however, after arriving at the hospital he declined any medical assistance and left. The rider of the auxiliary cycle, a 17 year old Warwick man, was not injured.
