Assault

At 12am (midnight) today, Police attended a reported assault on Ewing Street in Pembroke near the junction with Court Street. On arrival officers observed the victim, a 33 year old Hamilton parish man, lying in an open area with injuries to his body. It appears that the Hamilton parish man was assaulted by a group of men who then fled the scene on foot. The victim was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of stab wounds to his abdomen, right arm and back as well as injuries to his head. The Hamilton parish man indicated that he knew his assailants and the assault stemmed from an earlier incident; however, he would not co-operate with Police any further. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Robbery

At 4:20pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a robbery. It appears that the victim, a 15 year old young man from St. George's, was talking on his cellular phone while walking up from the car park at the rear of Windsor Place in the City of Hamilton to the City Hall car park on Church Street when he was approached by an unknown man from behind. The suspect attempted to engage the Cedarbridge student in a conversation before slapping the victim's face, knocking his glasses to the ground. The suspect then snatched the student's black Sony Ericsson cellular phone from him before making good his escape on foot with two other individuals, walking quickly towards City Hall car park. The main suspect is described as a dark skinned male, approximately 5'5" tall of muscular build, wearing a black hooded sweat top with the hood up. He appeared to be around 18 years old. Injury RTC

At 4:10pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Dundonald Street and Cedar Avenue in Pembroke involving a truck and an auxiliary cycle. Details about the collision remain unclear; however, the rider of the cycle, a 17 year old young man from Southampton sustained injuries to his head and left leg while the cycle's passenger, a 15 year old young man, sustained an injury to his left leg. Both were taken to KEMH for treatment of their injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening. The driver of the truck, a 39 year old St. George's man, was not injured. The auxiliary cycle received extensive front end damage while the truck received moderate damage to its front passenger door and rear fender. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.
