Suspicious Circumstances/Burglary

At 4:10 this morning, Police attended a reported burglary at a Vesey Street, Devonshire residence. It appears that at 3:50am the victim, a 31 year old Devonshire man, was awoken by three unknown men gaining entry into his home. The suspects were brandishing bladed articles. They took the Devonshire man from his bedroom to the living room where they assaulted him, punching him and cutting his left hand with a bladed article. The suspects then searched the house, removed a quantity of cash and made good their escape on motorcycles towards the City of Hamilton. The 31 year old Devonshire man was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of his injuries. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

At 6:05am on Wednesday, Police received a report of suspicious circumstances at an Abbots Cliff Drive, Hamilton parish residence. Officers subsequently attended a reported disturbance at the Crawl Hill Esso Service Station which was connected to the initial report. On arrival at the service station Police spoke with the victims, a 23 year old Hamilton parish man and a 23 year old Hamilton parish woman. It appears that around 5:30am Wednesday three men gained entry into the victims home. One of the men was brandishing a bladed article and demanded money from the 23 year old Hamilton parish man. Two of the suspects then drove the victims to an ATM machine at the Crawl Hill Esso Service Station to get cash, while the third suspect remained at the residence. The Hamilton parish man withdrew a quantity of cash and gave it to one of the suspects; however he and the Hamilton parish woman were then able to make good their escape, running into the service station for safe haven. The suspects briefly managed to make good their escape but all three were later located, arrested and detained. One of the suspects is known to the male victim. The victims were not injured. It appears a quantity of jewelry was also taken from the residence. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Injury RTC

At 11:15pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported serious single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Knapton Hill in Smiths parish. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear; however, it appears the rider of the motorcycle, a 19 year old Smiths parish man, sustained head injuries and is currently in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit of KEMH.
