Robbery

Around 4 this morning, Police attended a reported robbery on Front Street in the City of Hamilton. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 36 year old man who works onboard the cruise ship Azamara Journey, which is docked in Hamilton harbour. He stated that he left an area establishment around 3:45am and was walking along Front Street when he was approached by an unknown man. After a brief conversation, the unknown man summoned four other individuals and all five men began attacking the victim. The assailants then took a quantity of cash from the 36 year old man before making good their escape running east on Front Street. The victim sustained a head wound but declined local medical treatment, opting to be treated onboard the Azamara Journey. The main suspect is described as a dark skinned male believed to be in his 30s, approximately 6 tall of slim build with a bald head. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Handbag Snatch

Around 5:10pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported handbag snatch on Malabar Road in Sandys parish. It appears that two female tourists were riding their rental cycle east on Malabar Road when 3 unknown men on two motorcycles rode alongside them. One of the suspects grabbed a pink plastic bag that was in the rental cycles basket and a brief struggle ensued; during the struggle, one of suspects punched the female pillion passenger before making good their escape with the bag, which contained a Kodak digital camera and personal items. A short time later Police located the suspects on Scotts Hill Road and a short chase ensued, resulting in the arrest of one young man in connection with the incident. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Burglary

Around 8:55am on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Train Track Lane, Paget residence. The complainants stated that sometime between 6pm on Tuesday and 7am on Wednesday, an unknown culprit gained entry into their home, which is currently under renovation. The culprit stole a quantity of cash, jewelry & watches, two Palm Treo cellular phones (1 brand new; still in the box) 3 DVDs and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
