Industrial Accident

Around 9:55am on Friday, Police attended a reported industrial accident at the Fort Hill Water Treatment Facility in Devonshire. It appears that the victim, a 54 year old St. Georges man, was on the roof of the building repairing cracks when he fell; apparently he landed on a parked van first before ending up on the ground. The victim was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of suspected internal injuries, fractured ribs and a fractured pelvis. He is currently in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. The Government Health & Safety Officer is aware of this incident.

Burglary

Around 8pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Cobbs Hill Road, Paget residence. The complainants stated that sometime between 6:30pm and 7:50pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a silver Apple laptop computer, a blue Motorola cellular phone, a red I-Pod Nano, a silver I-Pod Shuffle and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Advisory

The Bermuda Police Service has noticed that recently culprits are committing burglaries via air-conditioning units. We are again reminding all residents to make sure their air conditioning units are securely fitted to their homes. For more information on home security, click here.

The Bermuda Police Service is also appealing for members of the public to ask for identification of any individual or individuals who may attend their residence asking to enter, claiming to be from a particular organization (Police, Fire, BELCO etc.). If after checking their identification you are still in doubt, contact the organization in question to verify the individual(s) intentions before letting them into your home.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were no arrests made on suspicion of impaired driving and 15 reported burglaries. There were also 15 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 6 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 7 vehicles reported taken without their owners consent.
