Burglary

Around 5:20 this morning, Police attended a reported burglary at a Burnt House Hill, Warwick residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant, a 24 year old Warwick woman, who stated that earlier she awoke to find an unknown man in her bedroom. The Warwick woman screamed and the suspect ran out of her room, making good his escape. Nothing was taken from the residence and the complainant was not injured. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6' tall. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about this incident to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Disturbance

At 3:20 this morning, Police received a report of a disturbance in the area of Dockyard Terrace in Sandy's parish. On arrival officers spoke with crew members from the Voyager of the Seas cruise ship who stated that earlier an altercation took place between a group of 5 crew members and a group of local men at an area establishment. The two groups then moved outside, where a scuffle took place resulting in one of the crew men being pushed overboard. He was subsequently retrieved from the water; however, that individual was eventually taken to KEMH for treatment of possible broken ribs and received 5 internal and 10 external sutures to his eyebrow. The second crewman received a possible nasal fracture and 3 sutures to his lip as well as bruising about his face and body; he also attended KEMH. A third crewman received two lacerations to his scalp requiring 7-10 sutures and 3 sutures to his lip. The fourth crewman received a laceration to the scalp requiring 6 sutures while the fifth crewman received bruising about his face and body. The Bermuda Fire Service and an ambulance from KEMH attended the scene; however, the injured crew members initially declined onshore medical assistance, preferring to be treated onboard the ship.
