Robbery

Around 11:10pm on Monday, Police attended a reported robbery in the area of Kings Square in St. Georges. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 43 year old man (Mauritius national), who works onboard the cruise ship Azamara Journey. The Mauritius national stated that around 10:45pm he left the ship and was walking along Water Street towards Kings Square when an unknown man approached him from the square. The suspect bumped into the cruise ship crew member, then held him by the neck and demanded money. At this time a second suspect approached the victim from behind and put a jacket over his head. Both suspects then searched the victims pockets and removed a quantity of cash before making good their escape on foot. The main suspect is described as a black male, approximately 58” tall with short dark hair and a low beard, wearing dark coloured clothing. Apparently the victim was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the St. Georges Criminal Investigation Unit on 297-1122.

Burglary

At 8:30pm on Monday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Poinciana Road, Devonshire residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between Saturday, October 6th and Sunday, October 21st an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of jewelry and cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
