Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 55 year old Barbara Friedrich, from Chicago Illinois, U.S.A. Around 10:55am on Wednesday, Police received a report of a medical emergency onboard the vessel ‘Aristocat anchored near Hawkins Island. It appears the victim got into difficulty while snorkeling. She was assisted back to the boat where she collapsed. CPR was performed on the visitor by the crew of the ‘Aristocat as it headed back to land. On the way in the ‘Aristocat was met by Police vessel ‘Heron 3. The victim was transferred to ‘Heron 3, where CPR was continued by an EMT onboard. She was then rushed to KEMH via ambulance; however, she was pronounced dead at 11:36am by an on call physician at the hospital. An autopsy is anticipated; however, there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.

Burglary

At 6:55 this morning, Police attended a reported burglary at a Crada Glen, Paget residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that sometime between 11:30pm on Wednesday and 6:30am on Thursday, an unknown culprit gained entry into their home. The culprit stole a laptop computer, a Samsung cellular phone, a calculator in a case, a computer bag and a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 10:30pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Grotto View Hill, Smiths parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that sometime between Friday, November 2 and 10:15pm on Wednesday, November 14 an unknown culprit gained entry into their home while they were overseas. The culprit stole a Sony PlayStation 2 video game system, four PlayStation 2 games and 3 DVDs. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 2:40pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported burglary at a St. Annes Road, Southampton residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between Tuesday afternoon and 2:40pm on Wednesday, an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit(s) stole a 32” Toshiba plasma TV with DVD, a quantity of coins and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
