Assault

At 3:55am on Saturday Police attended a report of an assault that took place outside of Splash Night Club on Bermudiana Road in Pembroke. Upon officers arrival they noticed several persons running from the area, resulting in the chase and subsequent arrest of 3 men in the area of the 24 hour gas station.Police then went to the hospital where they spoke to the victims, a 29 year old man and a 36 year old man (cousins), who stated that they were leaving the nightclub when they noticed someone attempting to steal a helmet that was locked to one of the complaints motorbikes. He approached the male and an argument ensued followed by a physical altercation. At that point a group of about 15 males attacked both he and his cousin forcing both men to the ground where they were further kicked and punched about the body. The 36 year old man was treated for lacerations and contusions to his head and face and received stitches to his right eye. The 29 year old man was treated for lacerations and contusions to his eyebrow and left eye. Both men were subsequently released. Police are appealing for witnesses to this incident to contact Sgt. Robbery

Meantime, on Saturday evening parents of a 13 year old boy attended Hamilton Police Station to report a robbery. It appears that the 13 year old boy was packing groceries at Lindos Grocery store in Devonshire at 6pm when he went outside to collect trolleys. It was at this time six males confronted him and demanded that he give them his cash.The culprits then relieved him of his earnings and made good their escape along Brighton Hill in Devonshire. There were 6 suspects; however, 3 are described as light complexioned, 13-15 years of age, with low hair cuts and of slim build. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.

Also, the public should take care not to put big ticket items empty boxes (such as flat screen TV empty boxes) outside of your home for trash collection. This can alert would be thieves to what is in your house and increase your chances of becoming a victim. Take the empty box(s) to the Tynes Bay Incinerator public drop off. Also when you buy a big ticket item, be sure to copy the serial number down. In case of theft and subsequent recovery, there is a means of identifying your property.
