Around 7:40pm on Saturday, Police received a report of a fire at a South Terrace, Pembroke residence. Officers attended the scene a short time later and found that Bermuda Fire Service personnel already had the blaze under control. There does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 10:10pm on Friday, Police received a report of a fire at BELCO on Cemetery Road in Pembroke. Officers attended the scene a short time later and observed Bermuda Fire Service personnel (3 appliances and 15 firemen) actively dealing with the blaze, which was contained to a maintenance shed on the premises. As a result, the fire was quickly brought under control, without any damage to other buildings on the property. There does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Medical Emergency

At 9:05pm on Saturday, Police received a report of a medical emergency onboard a U.S. Airways flight which diverted to Bermuda. It appears that a female passenger onboard the flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania U.S.A. suffered from an asthma attack enroute. The 60 year old American national received medical assistance during the flight. She was then taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment and subsequently released. The plane continued on its journey to Philadelphia shortly after the victim disembarked.

Injury RTC

Around 2:10am on Saturday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on South Road in Paget near the junction with Southcote Road involving two cars. It appears that one car was traveling east on South Road and the other car was traveling in the opposite direction when the eastbound vehicle lost control attempting to negotiate a left hand bend. As a result the cars collided, causing extensive front end damage to both vehicles. The driver of the eastbound vehicle, a 24 year old Devonshire man, sustained facial injuries and abrasions to his arms. The driver of the westbound vehicle, a 57 year old St. Georges man, complained of pain to his chest while his passenger sustained a fractured foot. The Bermuda Fire Service also attended the scene and used specialized equipment to extract the driver of the eastbound car. Both vehicles were subsequently impounded by Police. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
