Robbery

Around 11pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a robbery at the junction of Middle Road and Princess Drive in Southampton (Fairmont Southampton hotel property). The victims, a couple who work at the Fairmont Southampton, stated that they were waiting for the hotel shuttle bus when they were approached by four unknown men who had been loitering in the area. One of the suspects brandished a bladed article and demanded money from the 25 year old Southampton man who complied. The same suspect then approached the 25 year old Southampton woman and took her black wallet from her handbag before making good his escape on foot towards the Railway Trail with the three other suspects. The couple were not injured. The black leather wallet contained personal items. The suspects were described as four black males dressed in dark coloured clothing, believed to be 17 – 20 years old with the main suspect being approximately 6 tall and of medium build. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Handbag Snatch

Around 12:50pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch on Blackwatch Pass in Pembroke. The victim, a 69 year old Pembroke woman, was the pillion passenger on a rental cycle ridden by her son, a 45 year old Pembroke man, traveling west on North Shore Road. As the cycle approached Blackwatch Pass, an unknown man on another motorcycle rode alongside, snatched her handbag and made good his escape traveling along Blackwatch Pass towards Marsh Folly Road. The suspect is described as having dreadlocks, wearing a dark coloured helmet, a dark coloured jacket and riding a scooter. The handbag contained a quantity of cash and personal items. The victim was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
