Burglary

Around 11:10pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Southcourt Avenue, Paget residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 9:45pm and 10:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a metallic blue Sony Vaio laptop computer and a quantity of jewelry. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 3:40pm on Sunday, Police received reports of burglaries at two Scarrington Hill, Paget residences. It appears that sometime between Friday and 3:30pm on Sunday, an unknown culprit gained entry into both residences while the complainants were overseas; however, nothing was reported stolen at either location. Inquiries into these incidents are underway.

Around 12 noon on Sunday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Mission Crescent, Paget residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 8pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a Toshiba laptop computer. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the islands businesses that there have been recent reports of individuals using stolen cheques to purchase merchandise from various stores. In light of this, we are encouraging all businesses and their staff to be vigilant and to ask for photo identification before accepting a cheque as payment.

The Bermuda Police Service would also like to remind motorists to use care, caution and courtesy on our roads; especially when traveling near horses. If you are going to overtake a horse and its rider/driver, allow plenty of room to do so. Also, avoid making any loud noises which may startle the horse. The co-operation of the motoring public is appreciated in this matter.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 2 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 12 reported burglaries. There were also 15 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 5 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 17 vehicles reported taken without their owners consent.
