Injury RTC

At 1:30 this morning, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Parsons Lane in Devonshire. It appears that the car was traveling south on Barkers Hill when the driver, a 30 year old Southampton man, lost control at the junction with Vesey Street and struck an embankment before colliding with a tree a short distance away. The Bermuda Fire Service also attended the scene and had to extract the driver from the vehicle. The Southampton man sustained head injuries and was taken to KEMH for treatment where he is currently in stable condition. The car received extensive front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 6:30pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Wellington Street in St. Georges involving a motorcycle and a parked car. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling east on Wellington Street when the rider, a 39 year old Pembroke man, lost control and collided with the parked car. Though injured, the rider fled the scene on foot; however, he was subsequently located and arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The motorcycle received front end damage while the car, which was unoccupied at the time, received rear end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 2 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 8 reported burglaries. There were also 16 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 16 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 4 vehicles reported taken without their owners consent.

Witness Appeal

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the fatal road traffic collision that occurred on Ord Road in Paget around 7:10pm on Saturday, claiming the life of 48 year old Rudell Smith. We are especially interested in speaking to anyone who may have spoken with Mr. Smith on that day, prior to the collision.
