Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 87 year old Grace Cross of Sandys parish. She was pronounced dead by an on call physician at the hospital at 11:51am on Tuesday. An investigation into the cause of the fire at Ms. Crosss Scotts Hill Road, Sandys parish home yesterday is ongoing. Foul play has not been ruled out. The Bermuda Police Service extends it sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Robbery

At 9pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a robbery on Warwick Park Road in Warwick. The victim, a 66 year old Pembroke man, stated that he picked up five unknown men at Hayward s Supermarket on Middle Road in Warwick and took them to Warwick Park Road in his taxi. When they arrived, one of the men brandished a bladed article and a struggle took place. The taxi driver managed to get out of the taxi and fend off the suspects, who then made good their escape on foot. The Pembroke man was not injured; however, he reported one of the suspects removed a brown leather bag containing cleaning supplies and personal items from his vehicle. The main suspect is described as a brown skinned male, approximately 5 tall of slim build, with a round face and his hair in short plaits. He is believed to be in his early 30s. The other suspects are described as a white male, approximately 6 tall of slim build, wearing a hooded top and believed to be in his late 20s; a white male, approximately 56” tall of heavy build, wearing a black and white spotted jacket and believed to be in his late 30s; a brown skinned male of small stature believed to be around 15 years old; and a black male wearing a hooded top. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Witness Appeal

Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to the fatal road traffic collision that occurred on Ord Road in Paget around 7:10pm on Saturday, claiming the life of 48 year old Rudell Smith. We are especially interested in speaking to anyone who may have spoken with Mr. Smith on Saturday, March 1st, prior to the collision.
