Sudden Death

At 7:15am on Thursday, Police received a report of an unresponsive male at the Salvation Army Shelter on Marsh Lane in Pembroke. The victim, a 58 year old Devonshire man, was rushed to KEMH via ambulance but subsequently died. There does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. No further information will be released until the next of kin has been notified.

Fire

Around 4:30 this morning, Police attended a reported fire on Happy Valley Lane in Pembroke. On arrival officers observed a tree on fire. The Bermuda Fire Service also attended the scene and extinguished the blaze.

At 4:05 this morning, Police attended a reported fire near the junction of King Street and Dundonald Street in Pembroke. On arrival officers observed an abandoned car engulfed in flames. The Bermuda Fire Service also attended the scene and extinguished the blaze. The vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire.

Around 4 this morning, Police attended a reported fire at the junction of Dundonald Street and Union Street in Pembroke. On arrival officers observed a pile of trash ablaze. The Bermuda Fire Service also attended the scene and extinguished the fire.

These incidents are being treated as suspicious and inquiries into these matters are underway.

Injury RTC

At 11:40pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish, near the junction with Doctors Lane . It appears that a motorcycle was traveling east on North Shore Road when the rider, a 39 year old Pembroke man, lost control and collided with the sidewalk. The Pembroke man sustained facial injuries and abrasions to his body; however, his injuries are not considered life threatening. He is currently receiving treatment for his injuries at KEMH and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The cycle received front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 8:20am on Thursday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with My Lords Bay Lane involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian. It appears the motorcycle was traveling west in a line of traffic. When the traffic stopped at a pedestrian crossing the motorcyclist overtook the line of traffic and collided with the pedestrian, a 10 year old Hamilton parish girl, as she attempted to cross the road. The Hamilton parish girl sustained a head injury and a bruised left leg. She was taken to KEMH for treatment. The motorcyclist, an 18 year old Hamilton parish woman, was not injured and her cycle was not damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
