Advisory

The Bermuda Police Service is noticing an increase in the theft of expensive items and electronic equipment from various homes around the island (e.g. flat screen TVs, laptop computers, jewelry etc.). Therefore we are reminding members of the public not to leave boxes outside their residences which would indicate to a potential burglar what their recent purchases were; close their curtains at night and to contact Police immediately if any suspicious individuals or vehicles are seen in their neighbourhoods.

Also, we are encouraging members of the public to keep a copy of the serial numbers for all the items they have purchased, so that in the event they are stolen and later recovered, the items can be returned to their rightful owners.

In addition, we are advising all residents not to let anyone into their homes that they do not know; unless they can verify the persons purpose for being there and/or the company they work for. If in doubt, challenge the individual or individuals to show some form of identification and contact the company they claim to work for directly, to ascertain whether or not their claims are legitimate.
