Robbery

Around 2:30pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported robbery at Elroys Laundromat in Pembroke. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 45 year old Pembroke woman, who stated that around 2:10pm that day she was working at the premises when an unknown man entered and asked her to change a $10 note. As she went to the office the suspect followed her and brandished a bladed article, demanding money. The suspect then took a quantity of cash and made good his escape. The victim was not injured. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male, 58” tall with broad shoulders and his hair in braids or plaits. He was wearing khaki baggy cargo pants, a red t-shirt and a light coloured helmet. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Vehicle Fire

Around 3:40am on Sunday, Police attended a reported vehicle fire on Parsons Road in Pembroke. On arrival officers found the car ablaze in the parking lot of the Parsons Road playground. The Bermuda Fire Service attended the scene and extinguished the fire. The car was extensively damaged. The vehicle was subsequently impounded by Police and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 2 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 10 reported burglaries. There were also 13 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 7 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 5 vehicles reported taken without their owners consent.
