Robbery

At 1:15pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a robbery. The victim, a 44 year old Hamilton parish man, stated that around 11:30am that day he was riding his black Yamaha motorcycle on My Lord’s Bay Road in Hamilton parish when he stopped to talk to two men. After a short conversation one of the men grabbed the victim from behind; then both men proceeded to punch the Hamilton parish man about the head and body until he was unconscious. The suspects then took the victim’s motorcycle, riding jacket, corduroy jacket, black leather wallet (containing a quantity of cash and personal items) as well as a gold ring before making good their escape. The motorcycle was subsequently recovered by Police in the area. The suspects are described as a white male, approximately 5’10” tall of medium build; and a dark skinned male of slim build with a round face. Both men are believed to be in their 20s. The victim was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of his injuries and is currently recovering on a general ward. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 297-1122.

Burglary

Around 5:20pm on Saturday, Police received a report of a burglary at an Upland Lane, Warwick residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 1:45pm and 5:15pm on Friday, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 3 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 11 reported burglaries. There were also 20 reported damage only road traffic collisions and 10 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury.

Advisory

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to receive reports of thefts from unattended vehicles and tools being stolen from various construction sites around the island. Also, there has been a recent increase in burglaries in Pembroke, specifically in the north Hamilton area. Police are reminding the public to securely lock their vehicles before leaving them unattended and to make sure all windows and doors to their homes are secure prior to leaving the premises unoccupied. Any suspicious individuals or activity in your neighbourhood should be reported to Police on 295-0011.
