Attempted Robbery

Around 3:45 this morning, Police received a report of an attempted robbery on Freeport Drive in Sandy’s parish. The victim, a 38 year old Sandy’s parish man who is employed at an area establishment, stated that he left work around 2:30am and proceeded to walk home. In the area of the cement factory an unknown car drove up beside him and two men exited the vehicle, with one of the men approaching the 38 year old, demanding his wallet. The Sandy’s parish man refused to give the suspect his wallet and as a result was punched in the face and to the body. Both suspects then made good their escape empty handed. The victim sustained facial injuries including a cut above his right eye, bruising and a broken nose as well as bruising to his hands and arms. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken to KEMH via ambulance for further treatment. The suspects are described as two men; one was dark skinned. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Around 3:05 this morning, Police received a report of a vehicle taken without its owner’s consent. The complainant stated that sometime between 10:30pm Wednesday and 1am Thursday an unknown culprit removed the car, a white Suzuki Maruti Alto, license #31238, which was parked on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of this vehicle, license #31238, is encouraged to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.

Missing Juvenile

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to ask for the public’s assistance in locating 15 year old Dwayne Hassan. The teenager was last seen around 8am Monday, July 28th in Devonshire. He is described as a brown skinned male, approximately 6’ tall weighing 140 pounds with dark brown hair. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 15 year old Dwayne Hassan is encouraged to contact the Child Victims Unit on 295-0011.
