Roads Policing Unit Statistics

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to use care, caution and courtesy on the island's roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and those traveling on motorcycles to fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

During the week of Monday, January 12th - Monday, January 19th 2009 there were:

  • Reported Injury Collisions = 11
  • Reported Damage Only Collisions = 34
  • Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving = 4
  • Vehicles Reported Taken Without Their Owners' Consent = 10
  • Number of vehicles reported stolen by parish: St. George's = 2, Smith's parish = 1, Devonshire = 1, Pembroke = 4, Paget = 1 and Warwick = 1.

Most of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles with 1 car also reported stolen during the period. Of the 10 vehicles reported stolen 2 were subsequently recovered, including the car.

Burglary

Around 10am on Monday, Police received a report of a burglary at a King Street, Pembroke business. The complainant stated that sometime between 9:30pm on Sunday and 9am on Monday, an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises. The culprit stole a black/grey HP laptop computer and a beige/grey projector. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
