Sudden Death

Police responded to a report of a sudden death that took place at the Westgate Correctional Facility last night, a few minutes before midnight. 28 year old inmate Lorenzo Robinson’s lifeless body was found in a cell at the facility by an on duty Corrections Officer while conducting routine checks. A full Police investigation into the cause of death has commenced with officers from the Serious Crime Unit and the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit under the direction of Chief Inspector Antoine Daniels and Inspector Michael Redfern respectively, heading up the investigation.

The Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Robbery

Police responded to a report of a robbery that took place at the Fairmont Southampton yesterday a few minutes after 9pm. It appears that a worker was leaving after completing his shift and after walking down the stairs located at the back of the hotel he was set upon by 2 males. The complainant fought off the thugs for as long as he could but when one of the assailants produced a knife he acquiesced and the robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of money and documents. Inquires into this incidents are underway.
