Advisory

The Marine Police Unit would like to remind all boat owners/operators not to leave their vessels tied alongside public docks/landings unattended or overnight as it causes an obstruction and prevents other members of the public from using the dock. It is also a hindrance to emergency personnel who may have to use the dock for such purposes. It is an offence to fail to keep a public landing clear under Regulation 7 of the Marine & Ports Authority (Berthing and Anchoring) Regulation 1993 and carries a fine of $100.

The Marine Police Unit is therefore asking all boat owners/operators to be mindful of this and to abide by the law accordingly.

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of an individual or individuals going to various homes claiming to be collecting donations for the Bermuda Diabetes Association. Most recently an individual described as a black male, approximately 5’7” tall with a bald head that appeared to be 30-35 years old, visited homes in the Pembroke area; however he is not affiliated with the Bermuda Diabetes Association. We are therefore reminding residents to be vigilant for any similar activity in their neighbourhoods. If in doubt, verify by calling the organization in question before donating or call the Police on 295-0011.
