Aggravated Burglary

At 11:05am on Wednesday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Tankfield Hill, Paget residence. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 41 year old Paget woman, who stated that around 10:50am that day she returned home and heard noises coming from the bedroom. When she went to investigate, she found an unknown man in her bedroom. The Paget woman attempted to detain the suspect but instead a brief struggle ensued between them before the suspect pushed the victim to the floor and ran out the front door. She sustained a laceration to the back of her head as a result. The suspect subsequently made good his escape after trying to re-enter the home; however, the 41 year old Paget woman had managed to make her way to a neighbour’s house where Police were called. The suspect is described as a light skinned black male of muscular build, approximately 6’1” tall with narrow eyes, a short hair cut, receding hairline, wrinkled forehead and hairy arms. He was clean shaven wearing long denim pants, a dirty white T-shirt, brown construction boots and is believed to be in his 30s. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Traffic Initiative

The Roads Policing Unit conducted traffic checks in the western parishes this morning, concentrating on South Road. This Police presence caused some delays on South Road and additional delays on Middle Road and Harbour Road, as it appears some motorists attempted to avoid the traffic checks by using alternate routes into the City of Hamilton. However, no major arteries into the city were blocked by Police.

We are encouraging the motoring public to continue to take their normal route into work and to drive/ride within the speed limit to ensure that they arrive at their destination safely and on time. In addition, we are asking motorists not to slow down to observe Police activity as this practice only leads to more congestion on our roads.

The Roads Policing Unit will be patrolling the eastern parishes and the Town of St. George’s later today.
