Fatal RTC

Around 9:55 this morning, Police received a report of a serious road traffic collision on Somerset Road in Sandy’s parish near Arnold’s Supermarket. Details about how the collision occurred remain unclear; however it appears that a motorcycle was traveling north on Somerset Road when the rider, a 38 year old Sandy’s parish man, lost control while attempting to overtake a car and collided with a wall. The victim was rushed to KEMH via ambulance with serious injuries and subsequently succumbed to those injuries. No further information will be released until the next of kin has been notified. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact PC Greg Battersbee or PC Janeal Parson at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010. This marks the 15th road fatality for 2008.

Arrest

Police have subsequently arrested three men in connection with the assault of a 26 year old Smith’s parish man at a Flatts barbershop on Friday afternoon, as well as recovered the vehicle allegedly used by the suspects to make their escape. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.

Damage Only RTC

At 5:50 this morning, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish (Flatts Village). It appears that the car was traveling east on North Shore Road when the driver, a 20 year old Pembroke man, lost control and collided with a wall causing the vehicle to overturn. The Pembroke man was not injured; however, the car received extensive damage to its roof. A nearby parked car also received minor damage from flying debris.

At 5:40pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Panorama Drive. It appears that the car was traveling west on North Shore Road when the driver, a 37 year old St. George’s man, lost control and collided with a wall. The St. George’s man was not injured; however, he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained after failing the alco-analyser test. The vehicle received extensive front end damage.
