Assault

Around 8:05am on Saturday, Police received a report of an assault at a Princeton Lane, Warwick residence. Officers arrived on the scene a short time later and spoke with the parents of the victim, a 31 year old Warwick man. It appears that two men known to the victim and his family attended their residence and asked to speak with the 31 year old man. He went outside and met with the two men when a struggle ensued, with the suspects using bladed articles to attack the victim. The victim managed to get away from his assailants and the suspects then made good their escape in the car they arrived in. The victim was taken to KEMH for treatment of superficial wounds to his torso and an injury to his left index finger. Both suspects turned themselves in at the Somerset Police Station two hours later where they were arrested and detained. The suspects’ vehicle was subsequently impounded by Police. Inquiries into this incident are underway by the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit.

Robbery

At 10:20am on Sunday, Police received a report of a robbery on Victoria Street in Pembroke. The victim, a 44 year old Warwick man, stated that around 9:15pm on Saturday he was riding his motorcycle west on Victoria Street in the area of City Hall car park when two unknown men on a motorcycle overtook him and cut him off. The pillion passenger on the cycle got off, approached the Warwick man and demanded money while punching him about the face and body. The victim gave the suspect his wallet which contained a quantity of cash and personal items. Both suspects then made good their escape on their motorcycle heading north on Wesley Street. The suspects are described as a black male in his early 20s of slim build wearing grey pants and a black helmet (rider) and a black male, approximately 5’9” tall in his early 20s of large build wearing a white T-shirt, light coloured yellow pants and a black helmet (passenger). Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 2 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 11 reported burglaries. There were also 16 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 6 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 9 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
