Halloween Activity

Police patrolling the island during Halloween were kept busy; however, there were only a small number of Halloween related incidents reported. In fact there were no major incidents reported, although there were some reports of eggs/missiles being thrown at various locations around the island. Two of these incidents resulted in relatively minor damage to vehicles. The Bermuda Police Service would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their co-operation in helping to make this year’s Halloween festivities safer for all.

Burglary

At 8:30am on Saturday, Police attended a reported burglary at Wheels Cycles on Front Street in the City of Hamilton. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 5:45pm on Friday and 8:20am on Saturday, an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Attempted Burglary

Around 6:50pm on Friday, Police received a report of an attempted burglary at a Lovers Lane, Paget residence. The complainant stated that he was awoken around 6:45pm by his doorbell ringing. When he went to the door he saw a white car drive off. Figuring he had missed the ‘trick or treater’, he went back to his bedroom. However, a short time later the complainant heard a loud noise and when he went to investigate, discovered an unknown man in his home brandishing an object. The Paget resident confronted the suspect and chased him out of the house. The suspect then made good his escape in a waiting car. Nothing was taken and the complainant was not injured. The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s wearing a dark green hooded jacket and dark coloured jeans. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
