An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of 37 year old Peter Pappas is nearing completion. The file when completed will be forwarded to the Coroner who will decide whether or not an inquest will be held. Mr. Pappas was discovered deceased in his hotel room in Smith's parish on Wednesday, July 20, 2005. Police and Forensic Support personnel attended the scene following which Mr. Pappas was taken to the morgue at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where an autopsy was subsequently conducted and we are now in possession of the pathology report. The report does not indicate that foul play was a contributing factor in the death. The cause of death is anticipated to be determined by the Coroner by way of an inquest.

Collision

Police investigations into the report of a road traffic collision that occurred at Tobacco Bay Road in the area of Naval Tanks Hill in St. George's on Saturday, August 13, 2005 are now complete. The investigation reveals that there are differing accounts of the incident from the parties who were present at the scene. There is an absence of evidence that the car and livery cycle came into contact with each other as described by the tourists. An independent eye witness to the collision has provided a statement in which she says the livery cycle fell to the roadway some five feet distant from the car and the evidence indicates that the livery cycle was moved prior to Police arrival. An experienced Traffic Collision Investigator expert has also attended the scene and considered all of the available physical evidence in this case. Following a review of the investigation by an experienced Police Inspector it has been determined that no traffic related charges will be forthcoming in relation to this incident.

The Bermuda Police Service regrets that this incident resulted in injuries to the visiting tourist couple and wish them a speedy and complete recovery from their injuries.
