Around 7:35pm today, Police attended a reported serious road traffic collision resulting in injury on Harbour Road in Warwick, near the junction with Highwood Lane. It appears that a car was traveling east on Harbour Road when a motorcycle traveling west collided with it. The rider of the motorcycle, a 43 year old Warwick man, sustained serious head injuries and was taken to KEMH for treatment in the Intensive Care Unit. However, his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The driver of the car was not injured. The Bermuda Fire Service also attended the scene.


Fatal RTC

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 18 year old Shellee Smith of Smith's parish. At 10:35 this morning, Police attended a fatal road traffic collision on South Road in Smith's parish near the junction with St. Mark's Road, involving a motorcycle and a taxi. It appears that the taxi was traveling east on South Road and the motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction. As the vehicles approached the junction with St. Mark's Road the rider of the motorcycle, an 18 year old Smith's parish woman, lost control attempting to negotiate a left hand bend and skidded across the road, colliding with the taxi. The Smith's parish woman was rushed to KEMH via ambulance where she was pronounced dead a short time later. The taxi driver and his passenger were not injured. Both vehicles were impounded by Police and inquiries into this incident are ongoing. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact PC Shantia Furbert on 295-0011. The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.

The death of Shellee Smith marks the 10th road traffic fatality for 2005.
