Witnesses Sought: Reported Single Vehicle Car Crash in Devonshire

Police are still appealing for witnesses after a reported single vehicle car crash that occurred around 6pm Saturday, May 5th on South Road in Devonshire near the junction with Tee Street.

It appears that the car involved, described as a white BMW, was being driven in the eastbound lane of South Road when the vehicle stuck a utility pole.

Apparently the male driver then got out of the car and fled on foot.

BELCO personnel attended the scene to repair the damaged utility pole.

At last check 5pm Saturday (May 5th) the male motorcyclist injured in a collision with a car that occurred around 4:15pm Saturday on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with South Road – in the vicinity of Barnes Corner – was said to be conscious and aware of his surroundings while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Update: Monday, May 7th - At last check this morning (May 7th) the motorcyclist injured in a collision with a car that occurred around 4:15pm Saturday, May 5th on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with South Road – said to be an 18 year old Sandys parish man – had been treated and discharged from the hospital. Inquiries continue and any witnesses that have not already come forward are asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.

31 Year Old Male Passenger Arrested After Flight Diverts to Bermuda

Around 1pm Friday, May 4th a Thomson (TUI) Airlines flight en route between Manchester, UK and Cancun, Mexico diverted to the L.F. Wade International Airport due to an allegedly unruly passenger.

Police officers assisted in removing the 31 year old male passenger involved from the flight, without incident.

He was then arrested and conveyed to Hamilton Police Station, where he remains in police custody.

The man – believed to be a UK national – is expected to appear in Magistrates’ Court on Monday (May 7th) regarding this matter.
