Confirmed Firearms Incident

Residents of the Ord Road and Cobbs Hill areas of Paget contacted police and reported hearing several gunshots just before 12:18 a.m. today, Monday 11th July, 2022.

Officers attended and conducted searches of the locations and recovered forensic evidence to confirm a firearm had been discharged.

However, there were no reports of anyone being injured at the scene of the incident. Checks made at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital indicated no one arrived at that location seeking treatment for any firearms related injuries.

Officers returned to the scene today to continue their inquiries into this confirmed firearms incident.

Road Traffic Collision Hermitage Road, Devonshire

Police are investigating a two vehicle road traffic collision which took place on Hermitage Road near the junction with Devon Spring Road, Devinshire, around 4:48a.m. on Sunday 10th July, 2022. 

A 74-year-old male motorcycle rider was travelling south along Hermitage Road, when a 23-year-old male riding a motorcycle north along the same road, entered the opposing lane and collided with the 74-year old male.

Both riders were injured in the collision.

The elder of the two was at one point listed in critical condition with what were thought to be serious internal injuries. However, at last check his condition was upgraded and he was receiving treatment on a general ward.

The 23-year-old male who was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst impaired, suffered facial and other injuries, none of which were considered serious.

Road Traffic Collision Middle Road, Devonshire

A 22-year-old woman was injured in a two vehicle collision which took place around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday 9th July 2022 on Middle Road, Devonshire.

The woman was traveling east along Middle Road, Devonshire when she reportedly overtook two vehicles near the junction with Chaingate Hill and collided with a motorcar travelling in the opposite direction.

She sustained a fractured right leg and lacerations to her body. Her injuries were not considered to be life threatening.

Assault on Police

In keeping with Operation Vega, police officers were conducting road traffic checks on Southside Road, St, David's, around 12:40 a.m. Friday, July 8th 2022, when they attempted to stop the rider of a motorcycle clocked at a speed of 67 km/h.

The male motorcycle rider refused to stop and a chase ensued. Officers lost sight of the suspect upon reaching Chapel of Ease Road.

An area search was conducted and the subject was found hiding on his bike behind a wall.

The rider attempted to evade police by driving at the officers, one of whom sustained injuries to his arms and legs.

The suspect who was subsequently arrested, was found to be under age and riding a motorcycle, which following checks, was found to have previously been reported as stolen and was fitted with fraudulent license plates.
