Visitor Injured in Collision With Police Motorcyclist Stable on General Ward

At last check this morning (June 18th) the 36 year old visiting American woman pedestrian injured in a collision with a police motorcyclist around 5:25pm Monday, June 17th on Burnaby Street in the City of Hamilton was recovering in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital – while the police officer involved had been treated for his injuries and discharged.

It has been confirmed that the police motorcyclist was responding to a call for service at the time of the unfortunate collision.

Happy Valley Child Care Centre Minibus Damaged by Fire Sunday

Inquiries are underway after a Happy Valley Child Care Centre minibus was damaged by fire.

Police officers and firefighters responded to the incident, which was reported around 10am Sunday, June 16th – but apparently took place around 3:30am Sunday.

The fire is understood to have burned itself out several hours before the incident was reported to emergency services and several hours before the damaged minibus was discovered.

17 Year Old Girl Hurt in Marine Incident Saturday Treated & Discharged

A 17 year old girl that sustained leg injuries after being struck by a boat propeller in a marine incident at Shelly Bay around 5:45pm Saturday, June 15th has been treated and discharged from hospital, after initially being admitted to a general ward.

Marine police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service and ambulance personnel all responded to the incident and assisted with initial medical care.

Eight Motorists Arrested for Impaired Driving Over the Holiday Weekend

Eight motorists were arrested for impaired driving offences over the National Heroes’ Day holiday weekend, with road sobriety checkpoints conducted in six parishes from the evening of Thursday, June 13th until the evening of Sunday, June 16th.

There are no road sobriety checkpoints scheduled for this coming weekend. However, members of the public are urged not to drive, ride or operate a boat under the influence – for their own safety and that of all road users as well as those navigating our waters.
