Two Vehicle Collision in Devonshire [Updated]

Around 5:25pm today (November 5th) police and first responders were dispatched to a reported collision at the Barkers Hill round-a-bout in Devonshire.

Initial details indicate that a motorcyclist and a car driver were involved.

The rider, believed to be a 50 year old woman, was hurt. However, her injuries are not considered to be life threatening.

The car driver, said to be a 43 year old man, has been arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

Traffic diversions are currently in effect while the scene is processed and motorists should use alternate routes if possible until further notice.

Update: Traffic diversions are no longer in effect. Inquiries regarding the collision continue.

Update: Tuesday, November 6th - Around 5:25pm Monday, November 5th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported collision at the Barkers Hill round-a-bout in Devonshire.

It now appears that the motorcyclist and car driver involved were each attempting to negotiate the round-a-bout when the collision occurred.

The injured rider, a 49 year old woman believed to be from Devonshire, was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and later discharged.

The car driver, a 42 year old man believed to be from St. George’s, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving but later passed the alco-analyser test at Hamilton Police Station.

He has since been released from police custody pending further inquiries.

Traffic diversions were in effect for approximately one hour while the scene was processed.
