Sudden Death of 53 Year Old Man in Hamilton Parish [Updated]

Around 11am today (November 8th) police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service and ambulance personnel responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive man floating in waters near the Railway Trail in the North Shore Road, Hamilton parish area.

Initial information indicates that the man had been fishing in the area, located across from Shelly Bay MarketPlace.

Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel retrieved the unresponsive man from the water and commenced CPR, which continued as he was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.

However, despite these lifesaving efforts the 53 year old man, believed to be a Devonshire resident, was later pronounced dead.

No further information regarding the deceased will be provided at this time, pending notification of his next of kin.

The scene has been cordoned off and is being processed by the relevant police personnel.

Update: Friday, November 9th - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 53 year old Mr. Wyman Minks and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Minks was found floating in an unresponsive state in waters near the Railway Trail along North Shore Road in Hamilton parish around 11am Thursday, November 8th.

Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene by Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel which continued as he was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, sadly Mr. Minks was later pronounced dead.

Foul play is not suspected and a cause of death is being examined.
