Robbery at Belvin's Variety in Smith's Parish [Updated]

Police responded to a report of a robbery that took place today (Sunday) at Belvin's Middle Road in Smith's parish at around 5pm.

It appears that a male walked into the store and stole money out of the cash register. He then left on a waiting motorcycle ridden by a male accomplice. It is believed that the suspects left on a motorcycle traveling in a westerly direction on Middle Road. No one was injured and it appears that no weapon was brandished.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have any information to contact police on 295-0011.

Update: Monday, January 29th - On Sunday, January 28th police responded to a robbery at Belvin’s Variety in Smith’s parish where a male gained entry and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses and anyone with any information is asked to contact Sergeant Hayden Small at the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.

There is also CCTV footage of the incident circulating on the internet. While the footage provides a good description of the suspect(s), police did not authorise the dissemination of the clip. We are looking into this further with a view to understanding how the footage got into the public domain.
