Reported Serious Two Vehicle Collision in Smith’s Parish Early Sunday [Updated]

Around 3:30am Sunday, June 9th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported serious two vehicle collision in the Harrington Sound Road, Town Hill Road Smith’s parish area.

Details are still emerging. However, it appears that a taxi and a motorcyclist with a pillion passenger were travelling in opposite directions along Harrington Sound Road when the collision occurred.

The injured rider, said to be a 22 year old Smith’s parish man and the injured pillion passenger, said to be a 21 year old man, were transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.

The rider is believed to have sustained internal injuries and is likely to be flown overseas for further medical treatment, while the pillion passenger is understood to have sustained a leg injury.

An update on their medical conditions is anticipated in due course.

Apparently the taxi driver was not hurt.

Traffic diversions were in effect for approximately four hours while the scene was processed.

Update: Monday, June 10th -  It has been confirmed that the 22 year old male motorcyclist seriously injured in a collision with a taxi around 3:30am Sunday, June 9th on Harrington Sound Road in Smith’s parish – near the junction with Town Hill Road – was flown overseas by air ambulance for further medical treatment.

At last check this morning (June 10th) the injured 21 year old male pillion passenger also involved was recovering in stable condition on a general ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for a leg injury.
