Reported Serious Single Vehicle Motorcycle Crash on Harbour Road [Updated]

First responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place on Harbour Road in Paget in the area of Highwood Lane at 11:21 pm Wednesday.

Details are still emerging but it appears that a male on a motorcycle was traveling on Harbour Road when he lost control of his cycle and collided with a wall.

The man was rushed to the hospital and he is being treated for serious injuries. The road has been cordoned off whilst the scene is being processed by the relevant officers.

Update: We can confirm the male involved in the collision has passed. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified. This marks the first road traffic fatality for 2019.

Identification of 1st Road Fatality of 2019 - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 40 year old Mr. Richardo Gibbs Hill and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Gibbs Hill was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding struck a wall along Harbour Road, Paget in the vicinity of Highwood Lane around 11:20pm Wednesday, January 16th.

Despite lifesaving efforts as Mr. Gibbs Hill was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, sadly he was later pronounced dead.

A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist the deceased’s family at this difficult time.

The scene has been processed and the motorcycle involved impounded pending further inquiries.

A full investigation regarding this fatal crash – the first of 2019 – continues and any witnesses that have not already come forward or persons with information about the movements of 40 year old Richardo Gibbs Hill in the hours prior to 11pm Wednesday are encouraged to call Acting Sergeant Preston Gill on 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity.
