Reported Serious Collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish [Updated]

At 6:41pm police and first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place on North Shore Road at the junction of Panorama Drive in Hamilton Parish.

It appears that two males on separate motorcycles were traveling in opposite directions on North Shore Road when the rider who was traveling west attempted overtaking a car and in the process he hit the car and subsequently collided with a motorcyclist traveling in an easterly direction.

Both males were taken to the hospital with one male sustaining non-life threatening injuries. Currently a 39 year old man is in critical condition and the other rider, a 38 year old male was arrested for suspicion of driving whilst impaired.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision to contact police on 295-0011.

The road has been cordoned off whilst the scene is being processed by the relevant officers.

Update: Police can now confirm the death of a 39 year old man who died as a result of a road traffic collision that took place on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.

Update: Sunday, March 3rd - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 39 year old Mr. Shannon-Hugh Davis and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Davis – understood to be a Hamilton parish resident – was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding east was struck by a 38 year old male motorcyclist traveling in the opposite direction on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish, between Trinity Church Road and Panorama Drive, around 6:40pm Friday, March 1st.

Mr. Davis was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance but sadly later pronounced dead.

A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist the deceased’s family at this difficult time.

The 38 year old rider involved, said to be a Devonshire resident, was also injured and transported to hospital via ambulance.

He was then arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and subsequently given police bail pending further inquiries.

At last check the 38 year old was apparently recovering on a general ward.

A car being driven west along the same section of North Shore Road was also struck by the westbound rider. However, the occupants of the car were not hurt.

Traffic diversions were in effect for approximately four hours while the scene was processed.
