Reported Robbery in Paget & Man Arrested for Warrants Plus Bladed Article

Robbery

Around 9:30 a.m. yesterday, Wednesday 17th February, 2021, Police responded to a report of a robbery which occurred at the junction of Ord Road and Cherry Hill Park, Paget.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the complainant a nineteen-year-old woman who told officers she was riding east on Ord Road, taking her sixteen-year-old friend to school when as they neared the junction with Cherry Hill Park, a white motorcycle with two unknown men approached them.

One of the men then allegedly snatched a gold chain off her neck and caused her to lose control of the bike.

Both she and her passenger fell to the ground and sustained minor injuries. The suspects reportedly made a U-turn and drove away from the scene, travelling west on Ord Road.

EMTs attended and checked the victims’ injuries, which were not thought to be life threatening.

The suspects whose faces covered, were on a white motorcycle. The pillion was passenger wearing a black jacket. The rider wearing a white helmet.

Bladed Article

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday 17th February, 2021 police officers were on mobile patrol on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Lighthouse Road when they observed a motorcycle overtaking on the left side of a line of traffic.

The rider was stopped and checks revealed he had outstanding warrants.

He was arrested and conveyed to Hamilton Police Station.

A subsequent search revealed he had a knife with an approximately seven-inch blade in his possession.

When questioned, the suspect could not give a lawful reason for having the knife and was informed he could be charged for being in possession of a sharply pointed bladed article in a public place.

A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
