Reported Collision in Warwick: Rider Hurt, Car Driver Arrested [Updated]

Police and first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place on Middle Road in Warwick at the junction of Belmont Hills at a few minutes after 12pm today (Friday).

It appears that a 52 year old man was traveling west on Middle Road in a car when it appears that he collided with a 44 year old male traveling on a livery cycle.

As a result the 44 year old man has been conveyed via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with serious leg injuries, while the 52 year old man has been arrested and is currently in police custody.

Presently there are traffic diversions in the area whilst the scene is being processed by the relevant police personnel.

Update: 1:45pm - Traffic diversions are no longer in effect on Middle Road in Warwick near Belmont Hills. Witnesses to this collision are asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011 as inquiries continue.

Update: Sunday, April 29th - At last check this afternoon (April 29th) the livery (50cc) cycle rider hurt in a collision with a car at the junction of Middle Road and Belmont Hills Drive in Warwick around 12 noon Friday, April 27th – believed to be a 44 year old Sandys parish man – was apparently still receiving treatment at the hospital for injuries initially described as serious, but not life threatening.

An update on his condition will be provided in due course.

The car driver involved, said to be a 52 year old Warwick man, was arrested following the collision but has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Update: Monday, April 30th - At last check this morning (April 30th) the 44 year old male livery (50cc) cycle rider hurt in a collision with a car at the junction of Middle Road and Belmont Hills Drive in Warwick around 12 noon Friday, April 27th was recovering in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital.

The car driver involved, said to be a 52 year old Warwick man, was arrested following the collision but has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
