Reported Armed Robbery at Belvin’s Variety in Flatts [Updated]

Around 11:30am today (May 21st), police officers responded to a reported attempted armed robbery at Belvin’s Variety in Flatts.

It appears that a lone male suspect entered the store brandishing a bladed article and demanded money.

However, he left empty handed and no injuries were sustained by staff.

The suspect was described as a slim black male, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall wearing sunglasses and dark coloured pants.

Officers are currently conducting a search of the surrounding area for the culprit.

Any witnesses are asked to call the main police telephone number 295-0011.

Update: It has since been confirmed that a quantity of cash was taken from Belvin’s Variety in Flatts during the reported armed robbery this morning.

A 59 year old man was later arrested in connection with this incident and is currently in police custody pending further inquiries.

Any witnesses or members of the public with relevant information are now asked to call the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.

Community Meet & Greet Clinic in Devonshire on Thursday
