Police Truck & Car Collide in Southampton: No Reported Injuries

Around 11:20am today (April 22nd) a collision occurred along Middle Road, Southampton in the vicinity of Evans Bay Road, involving a police truck and a car.

It appears that both vehicles were being driven in opposite directions at the time.

There were no reported injuries. However, both vehicles were damaged.

Traffic flow was reduced to one lane while the scene was processed, but has since returned to normal.

Inquiries are underway and any witnesses are asked to call Acting Sergeant Melvin Best on the main police telephone number 295-0011.

Three Teens Arrested After Reported Armed Robbery Released on Bail

Three male teens aged 16, 18 and 19 years old arrested in connection with the armed robbery of another 19 year old male that occurred around 2:30pm Thursday, April 18th in the Rockaway Road, Southampton area near Port Royal Service Station have since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Detectives renew their appeal for any witnesses or members of the public with relevant information to call the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.

Antoine Seaman Road Fatality: CCTV Indicates Second Motorcyclist

As the investigation continues regarding the fatal collision involving a police vehicle that claimed the life of 21 year old Antoine Seaman, the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can now confirm that detailed enquiries discovered CCTV footage which indicates that Mr. Seaman was riding alongside an, as yet unknown, motorcyclist who the BPS believe is a critical witness to the collision that took place around 1:50am Monday, April 15th on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near Wilson Place.

We continue to urgently appeal for that rider, or anyone who knows the identity of that individual, to come forward by calling the investigating officer Sergeant Dorian Astwood on 247-1009 or 717-0849 at the earliest opportunity.

Paget Collision Update: Rider Treated & Discharged, Passenger in ICU

At last check this morning (April 22nd) the 18 year old female rider hurt when the motorcycle she was traveling on collided with a car around 4:30pm Saturday, April 20th on South Road in Paget – near the junction with White Sands Road – had been treated and discharged, while her injured 42 year old female pillion passenger remained at the hospital listed in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

Any witnesses are still asked to call the main police telephone number 295-0011.

Update: Specific E-Cigarette Type Devices Confiscated at Two Schools

After conducting further inquiries, it has been determined that the specific e-cigarette type devices confiscated from Dellwood Middle School and CedarBridge Academy Wednesday, April 10th do not contain any nicotine, tobacco or other controlled substance – nor can they be easily converted to consume other substances.

Notwithstanding this, the Bermuda Police Service is aware of the concerns that this matter has raised in the community and our Community Action Team officers, along with relevant partners, will be speaking to students and staff at the affected schools for follow up.

Three Motorists Arrested for Impaired Driving Over Easter Weekend

A total of three motorists were arrested for impaired driving offences over the Easter holiday weekend, with road sobriety checkpoints conducted in six parishes from the evening of Good Friday (April 19th) until the evening of Easter Sunday (April 21st).

While there are no road sobriety checkpoints scheduled for this coming weekend, members of the public are urged not to drive or ride under the influence as police officers conducting their regular patrols will be on the lookout for any offences, including impaired driving.
