Pedal Cyclist Sustains Serious Eye Injury [Updated]

Police and first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place at approximately 6:39pm tonight (Saturday).

It appears that a cyclist fell off his bicycle on Dunscombe Road, Warwick and as a result, the rider has suffered a serious eye injury and the roads have been blocked off while the scene is being processed.

Update: Sunday, December 16th - Around 6:40pm Saturday, December 15th police and fellow first responders attended a report of an injured pedal cyclist on Dunscombe Road in Warwick.

It now appears that the pedal cyclist, said to be a 63 year old Warwick man, was traveling along Dunscombe Road toward Ord Road when he struck a wall.

The injured 63 year old man was first assisted by members of the public and then treated by emergency medical technicians – who arrived on scene shortly after the crash – before being transported via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for further medical care.

He was admitted for treatment of a serious eye injury as well as other injuries which were not believed to be life threatening. An update on his medical condition is anticipated in due course.

Traffic diversions were in place while the scene was processed by the relevant police personnel.
