Over the holiday period there were no significant calls for police service. We would like to thank the public for their cooperation and we will continue to work with the public and our community partners to ensure the New Year’s period is the same.

During the Christmas period 48 persons were arrested for various offences. Ten persons were arrested for DUI and 50 tickets were issued for a range of matters including drugs, theft and traffic matters.

Attempted Robbery

At 6:40am on Sunday, police responded to a report of an attempted robbery that took place at Arnold’s Supermarket on St. John's Road in Pembroke.

It appears that a black male walked into the establishment with a weapon, and made demands of money. The cashier refused to give him money and he left the area. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have any information to contact the Criminal Investigation Department on 295-0011.

Man Arrested for Bladed Article & Suspected Drugs

Police were conducting checks on Saturday at 8:30pm on South Road when they stopped two men on a motorcycle. The pillion passenger was searched and it was found that he was in possession of a bladed article and a quantity of plant like material. He was subsequently arrested and detained.

Women Involved in Altercation at Southampton Rangers Sports Club

Meantime, on December 24th, patrons were leaving the Southampton Rangers Sports Club when two women were having a verbal altercation and one of the females threw what is believed to be gas on the victim. She then got a lighter and tried to start a fire but she was unsuccessful.  The women then commenced fighting before it was eventually broken up. An investigation into this incident is underway and police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information of this incident to contact police on 295-0011.
