Motorcyclist Hurt in Reported Single Vehicle Sandys Parish Crash [Updated]

Around 9pm on Thursday, May 24th police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service as well as ambulance personnel were dispatched to a reported single vehicle motorcycle crash on Middle Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Wreck Road.

It appears that the rider, believed to be a 54 year old Warwick man, was hurt when he struck a wall in the vicinity of Somerset Bridge, while traveling along the westbound lane of Middle Road.

The injured man was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of apparently non-life threatening injuries and later arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

An update on his medical condition is anticipated in due course.

Traffic diversions in the area were in effect for approximately two hours while the relevant police personnel processed the scene.

Update: Monday, May 28th - At last check this morning (May 28th) the 54 year old male motorcyclist injured after crashing into a wall around 9pm Thursday, May 24th on Middle Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Wreck Road was listed in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital.

He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving following the crash.
