Motorcycle Stolen from 20 Year Old Man in Reported Armed Robbery

Around 8:30pm Sunday, June 9th police officers responded to a reported armed robbery.

It appears that a 20 year old man was sitting on a motorcycle in the parking lot of Bermuda Squash Racquets Association on Middle Road in Devonshire when he was approached by two unknown males on another motorcycle – with the rider demanding ‘everything’, while the pillion passenger held what appeared to be a firearm.

The suspects – described as wearing dark coloured clothing and dark coloured helmets riding a dark coloured motorcycle – made good their escape (on separate motorcycles) heading towards Vesey Street with the 20 year old man’s personal items, as well as the motorcycle he was sitting on (which the pillion passenger rode away). However, the 20 year old man was not hurt.

Efforts continue to locate the culprits and any witnesses or members of the public with relevant information are asked to call the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744 at the earliest opportunity.

Injured Rider Flown Overseas by Air Ambulance for Further Treatment

It has been confirmed that the 22 year old male motorcyclist seriously injured in a collision with a taxi around 3:30am Sunday, June 9th on Harrington Sound Road in Smith’s parish – near the junction with Town Hill Road – was flown overseas by air ambulance for further medical treatment.

At last check this morning (June 10th) the injured 21 year old male pillion passenger also involved was recovering in stable condition on a general ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for a leg injury.

Inquiries continue and any witnesses are now asked to call the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788 at the earliest opportunity.

Female Visitor Hurt in Scooter Crash Sunday Stable on General Ward

At last check this morning (June 10th) the 48 year old visiting American woman hurt in a single vehicle rental scooter crash that occurred around 3pm Sunday, June 9th on South Road in Southampton near the Fairmont Southampton resort was recovering in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital, where she is receiving treatment for non-life threatening head and leg injuries.

It appears that the female visitor was riding the rental scooter west along South Road when she crashed after going off the road on to a dirt path and then back on to South Road. Thankfully, her injuries are not as serious as first thought.
